Malta will strengthen its voice in the Future of Europe debate
As a result of a memorandum of understanding between MEUSAC and the Municipality of Hässleholm, Malta will now have a new platform to discuss EU current affairs. What started as a half-day seminar in 2003 is now Sweden’s leading arena for discussions on Europe and the European Union. Politicians, experts and the public meet to discuss current issues from a European point of view during Europaforum.
The MoU was signed between Dr Vanni Xuereb on behalf of MEUSAC Malta and Bengt-Arne Persson, Executive Head of the Hässleholm Municipality.
The MoU was signed in Hässleholm in the presence of Parliamentary Secretary for European Affairs and Social Dialogue Dr Aaron Farrugia. The Maltese delegation in Hässleholm earlier this week.
Dr Farrugia noted that “Malta is no longer a new member state, as we are transitioning to a leadership role where our citizens now expect to play a more proactive role participating in debate on Europe’s future. Europaforum is a model we want to replicate in Malta. I am pleased that we signed a memorandum of understanding today committing to working together, and whereby the Hässleholm team will assist us in delivering a Europaforum event in Malta. I am very grateful for such a warm welcome and such a willingness to share ideas and experiences. I believe this is the beginning of a deep and special relationship between Hässleholm and Malta”.
