2019 crucial year for Malta to strike ‘fair deal’ on Structural and Cohesion funds

Addressing a news conference earlier today, Parliamentary Secretary for European Funds and Social Dialogue Aaron Farrugia said that 2019 will be a crucial year for Malta to strike a fair deal in relation to the package for structural and cohesion funds it is to receive during the next funding period 2021-2027. As is the case each year, the challenge will be to reach the country’s disbursement targets for European funds.

Efforts to better the results of centralised EU-funded programmes such as #Horizon2020, #Life, #COSME, #Creative #Europe and others will continue, he said.

Social dialogue will continue to be strengthened together with the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development (MCESD) and #MEUSAC. The first-ever conference with the name Europaforum Malta will be organised in order to discuss the future of the European project and the role of Malta in the European Union.
