Following the discussions in Sibiu, the 2019-2024 Strategic Agenda will be formulated for adoption at the European Council meeting in June.

Leaders’ Agenda note – “Strategic agenda 2019-2024 – outline”

Ahead of the special meeting of the European Council, the European Commission has set out a number of policy recommendations for how Europe can shape its future in an increasingly multipolar and uncertain world. With the European Parliament elections on 23-26 May 2019 and the change of political leadership of the EU institutions that will follow, the Commission is also making suggestions on how to better communicate collective decisions. Together, these form the Commission’s contribution to the next strategic agenda for 2019-2024.

The Commission’s recommendations take into account the progress the EU has made, the outcome of the nearly 1,600 citizens’ dialogues in recent years and in the challenges the EU is facing now and in the years ahead. Future action should, in the Commission’s view, focus on 5 dimensions:Protective Europe, Competitive Europe, Fair Europe, Sustainable Europe, Influential Europe.
