New Pact on Migration and Solidarity

The European Commission just proposed a new Pact on Migration and Solidarity.

The Pact covers various elements needed for a comprehensive and holistic European approach to migration. Building on Commission President von der Leyen’s State of the Union Address last week, the pact introduces further balance and is consistent with the principles of fair sharing of responsibility and solidarity between all EU Member States.

The European Commission wants to rebuild trust between Member States. There is a belief that the pact will increase confidence that the European Union does have the capacity to manage migration properly.
