During a presentation ceremony held today by MEUSAC and Europe Direct Valletta, MEUSAC CEO Mandy Falzon donated copies of the recently published storybook about the European Union, ‘Mas-Siġra tal-Ballut’, to Head of Malta Libraries, Cheryl Falzon.
The presentation of the books was held at the at the National Library in Floriana in the presence of the Minister within the Office of the Prime Minister, Carmelo Abela and Europe Direct Valletta Manager, Joe Sciberras.
Minister Abela spoke of the importance of disseminating factual information on the European Union to all ages, not least to children. This is one of the main functions of MEUSAC and Europe Direct Valletta, together with the assistance to entities to apply for EU-funding.
MEUSAC CEO, Mandy Falzon said that the book has been printed in 7,000 copies and distributed to 11-12-year old students attending Year 7 and Year 8 in State, Church and Independent schools across Malta and Gozo. The donation of books to the public libraries will widen the book’s dissemination and outreach to the intended target audience.
Ms Cheryl Falzon praised MEUSAC for the excellent publication that will be added to the extensive collection of books found in 59 public libraries. She also said that because of its message of inclusion, the storybook ties in perfectly with an ongoing campaign spearheaded by the Malta Libraries with the same theme.
