EU Heads of State or Government, including Maltese Prime Minister, Robert Abela, met in Brussels to discuss pressing issues in foreign relations, including Russia and the UK. The discussion also included the latest developments on migration and the Middle East, as well as the preparations of the upcoming EU-US Summit in June.
On Tuesday May 25, the members of the European Council discussed the EU’s response to COVID-19 as well as the EU’s fight against climate change.
EU leaders agreed to stay vigilant amidst the emergence and spread of variants, even though the pace of vaccinations has accelerated across the EU and the general epidemiological situation has improved.
The European Council welcomed the agreement reached on the EU Digital COVID Certificate and called for its rapid implementation.
