03 October 2017

On October 3, MEUSAC, together with the Ministry for Education and Employment, Aġenzija Żgħażagħ and the European Union Programmes Agency, organised a consultation session in relation to the European Solidarity Corps as discussed in the communcation published by the European Commission (laying down the legal framework of the European Solidarity Corps and amending Regulations (EU) No 1288/2013, (EU) No 1293/2013, (EU) No 1303/2013, (EU) No 1305/2013, (EU) No 1306/2013 and Decision No 1313/2013/EU).

This proposal provides the legal framework for the European Solidarity Corps to offer opportunities for young people to engage in solidarity activities, which will contribute to addressing unmet societal needs, while enhancing young people’s personal, educational, social, civic and professional development. In shaping this proposal, the Commission has taken into account the evidence and findings gathered through the ex-ante evaluation that accompanies it, as well as the views and suggestions collected through an extensive open consultation process.

The two speakers for the session were Mr Jason Zammit (Senior Policy Officer – Aġenzija Żgħażagħ) and Ms Gwyneth Tanti (Programme Officer {Volunteering} – EUPA).
