Another public consultation on Green Public Procurement, this time tied to road transport, was organised by MEUSAC and the Environment Ministry.
The aim of the European Commission’s GPP proposals, which will come into force in the next two years, is to help safeguard the environment. National governments of Member States, including Malta’s, will procure goods, services and work using GPP criteria.
It was highlighted that after 2021, national governments won’t be able to purchase Euro 4 vehicles for its employees any longer to help reduce emissions from vehicles. Public service employees in various departments are currently undergoing training in GPP rules.
