In line with its motto ‘United in Diversity’, cultural and linguistic diversity are at the heart of the European Union. The cultural and creative sectors account for about 4.2% of its gross domestic product. European film and audiovisual industries (including broadcasting and cinema) promote European language and culture across the globe.

Creative Europe is the European Commission’s main funding programme supporting the culture and media sectors. Between 2021 and 2027, the programme has a budget of €2.44 billion.

Creative Europe promotes cooperation, innovation and collaboration at European level. This programme enables companies, artists and creators across different disciplines to find innovative ways to reach new audiences, receive or provide training, develop scripts, develop films and also translate their work.

The programme covers a wide range of cultural sectors, including music, architecture, books and publishing.
