Information Session: Energy Taxation Directive

Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta and the Economic Policy Department within the Ministry for Finance and Employment organised an online information session on a proposed review of the Energy Taxation Directive.

The proposed review aims to align the taxation of energy products with EU energy and climate policies, promote clean technologies and remove outdated exemptions and reduced rates that currently encourage the use of fossil fuels.

During the information session, officials from the Ministry for Finance and Employment explained the details and wide-ranging implications of the proposal for a wide range of sectors, in view of taking feedback from interested stakeholders.

The online information session was held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 on the Zoom platform.
