EU Careers Student Ambassador Opportunity – Applications Now Open!

Deadline: March 20, 2022

Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta (SEM), as the government agency tasked with promoting EU Careers in Malta, is inviting all interested undergraduate and postgraduate students presently enrolled at the University of Malta to submit their application for the voluntary role of EU Careers Student Ambassador for the academic year 2022-2023.

Role of the EU Careers Ambassador
The overall role of an EU Careers Student Ambassador is to act as the point of contact for students interested in EU Careers at the University of Malta and to promote the different opportunities that EU institutions have to offer to students once they graduate.

As an EU Careers Student Ambassador, the student is free to create their own plan of activities and initiatives to reach as many students as possible and effectively promote EU Careers across campus. The type of activities that the student ambassador can undertake can include any of the following:

  • attending careers fairs, or giving presentations to fellow students;
  • developing university networks and providing information;
  • maintaining an active online and social media presence;
  • answering questions about EU Careers.

Support and guidance will be provided by SEM to the EU Careers Student Ambassador in the planning and execution of any promotional activities.

Why apply?
The chosen EU Careers Student Ambassador will join the EU Careers Student Ambassadors programme. This is an EU-wide programme managed by European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) – the recruitment office responsible for selecting staff for the EU institutions and agencies.

At the beginning of the 2022-2023 academic year, EPSO will invite all EU Careers Student Ambassadors for a full induction training that is either hosted in Brussels, Belgium that takes place over two-days or through an online event held over one day. This will depend on the Covid-19 situation as well as any travel restrictions.

An added benefit of this role is that at the end of the academic year the chosen student will receive a reference letter from the head of EPSO detailing their performance throughout the year.

Therefore, this is an excellent opportunity for a student to be able to build a fantastic student network across Europe, gain relevant work experience and develop other skills that will give extra weight to their CV once they graduate!
