On March 28, a group of Master’s and undergraduate students from the Public Policy Department visited our offices for an information sessions about SEM’s main functions.

As an introduction, the students were provided with a brief explanation of how the Agency has evolved throughout the years – going back to the Agency’s inception before Malta’s accession to the EU and continuing to the recent transition from MEUSAC to SEM.

The discussion then moved onto the main functions of SEM as a gateway to EU related services in Malta and Gozo. The Communications and Outreach Team explained how the Agency keeps citizens informed about the latest development in the EU’s initiatives and engages organisations and interested stakeholders in the EU’s decision-making process by facilitating feedback on EU policies and legislative proposals. The students were also presented with an explanation on the decision-making process of EU policy and legislative proposals at the national level.

For the final part of the session, a presentation was delivered by the EU Funding team on SEM’s assistance when it comes to supporting citizens and organisations in tapping into EU-funding opportunities by informing them of such opportunities, helping those who are interested in applying for available funds and guiding successful applicants in implementing their projects.
