Webinar: Permanent Staff Positions in the EU

Third Online Information Session on EU Careers

On July 14, Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta (SEM) and Europe Direct Valletta hosted the third and final webinar as part of a series of online information sessions on EU Careers ‘An EU Career for You’.

For this webinar, SEM invited Mr Koen Hendrix from the European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) to provide more information on joining the EU civil service as a Permanent Official.

For the first part of the session, Mr Hendrix provide participants with a brief overview of what is an EU Career, who the Institutions are looking for, and why should one consider joining the EU civil service. He then moved onto providing more in-detail information on how Permanent Officials are selected by EPSO through open competitions. Attendees were provided with information on the different competitions organised by EPSO and guidance on the different phases of these competitions. Finally, a brief overview was provided of other positions in the EU institutions such as Interim staff, freelancers and traineeships.

During the second half of the session, Maltese nationals currently working with the EU institutions and agencies shared their experience on pursuing an EU Career, explained the benefits of working in the EU and shared some advice with the participants.
