Cycling Tour to EU Funded Sites - South Route

On April 30, SEM and Europe Direct Valletta held the first of three cycling tours to EU funded sites. These organised tours for adults to different sites and projects around Malta and Gozo that have been co-financed by the European Union, showcase the various ways in which the European Union seeks to invest in and support.

SEM teamed up with ROTA - an eNGO advocating for safe bicycle use - to hold cycling tours around three main areas: a South Tour, a North Tour and a Gozo Tour.

The South Route started from the Siġġiewi parish square and took a scenic trail with a stop at the Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra Archaeological Park, up to Wied Fulija in Żurrieq. Officials from Heritage Malta and Wasteserv provided a detailed explanation of how EU funds were invested in the respective sites.

Participants then rode back to Siġġiewi parish church via Ħal Safi, Ħal Millieri, Ħax-Xluq and the lesser-known valley of Wied Xkora, covering a distance of about 25km.
