SEM participates at an EU Careers Event held at the University of Malta

Event on career opportunities offered by the European institutions

Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta (SEM) - the government agency tasked with promoting EU Careers in Malta - participated in an event hosted by the EU Careers Student Ambassador at the University of Malta, Michaela Giglio, to promote EU Careers to students.

The event focused on promoting the different employment and traineeship opportunities offered by the European Institutions to students once they graduate. Invited to speak at this event were Dr Peter Agius, a seasoned professional with 10 years’ experience working in the European Institutions, Michela Meli and Abigail Mizzi - two professionals who have completed a traineeship in the European Commission and the European Parliament, respectively.

During this event, students were provided with information on the different permanent and contract-based positions available in the European institutions and agencies as well as the process that one has to complete to be selected for such positions. Students were also informed of the different traineeship opportunities offered by the European institutions and were given a detailed presentation on how to apply for the traineeships offered by the European Commission and the European Parliament.

SEM official Michela Meli spoke about her experience as a trainee within the European Commission and provided students with some helpful tips that they can use when applying for such an opportunity that would help them to stand out from other applicants.

At the end of the event, SEM official Faith Spearing, informed students of the work that SEM is tasked with carrying out especially with respect to promoting EU Careers in Malta and gave a brief presentation regarding the EU Careers Student Ambassador opportunity inviting all students interested to apply.

University students were able to attend this event in person or by joining via a livestream on EU Careers Malta Facebook page.
