Europe Direct Valletta and Gozo host Network of Networks meeting

Europe Direct Valletta and Europe Direct Gozo information centres brought together EU-related national contact points and information providers in Malta, to discuss ways of collaboration in issues of interest to the Gozitan community.

The meeting started off with a short introduction by Europe Direct Valletta manager Joe Sciberras, who spoke about the purpose of these meetings and their significance to provide EU-related information to citizens in Malta and Gozo. A notable remark made here was that the efforts and the commitment to this network has been commended by the European Commission at a General Meeting for Europe Direct managers held in Milan at the beginning of June.

A presentation and discussion by Daniel Borg, CEO of the Gozo Business Chamber as the host organisation of Europe Direct in Gozo. Mr Borg introduced the new Gozo manager, Jesmond Buttigieg and outlined the context in which Europe Direct Gozo operates, as well as the Centre’s role and work. A discussion by the participants ensued during which ways and means of collaboration were sought for EU info providers in Malta to reach the Gozitan community better.

Participants hailed from the following entities: Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta, Europe Direct Valletta, Europe Direct CORE Platform, the European Commission Representation in Malta, the European Employment Services (EURES), the Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST), the EU Programmes Agency (EUPA), the Strategy & Implementation Division within the Ministry for the Economy, European Funds and Lands, the Malta SOLVIT Centre, the European Consumers Centre (ECC Net.), and the Department for Local Government.

This was the second Network of Networks meeting of this year, bringing together EU information providers and national contact points to strengthen collaboration in the provision of several different EU related services to EU citizens in Malta.
